Dear Gray Jacket: We believe "Gabriel's Horn" has at last sounded, and we feel confident that all who have listened to the thrilling notes of the Blacks- burg Cornet Band will heartily concur with us in our assertion. But we must remember they are in their infancy. We should, and do give them great credit for their rapid progress in the past, and if' they con- tinue to improve as fast in the future, they will soon be ranked with the first Bands of our State.

Under the direction of their accomplished of Bavaria, Germany, they are sure to fully meet the expectations of the people. Judging from their past success, they are far surpassing even that of themselves. The Professor's head is "level" on the subject of music, and his experience in the science, affords him every advantage necessary for a first-class teacher.

The members of the Band, with one exception, (Drummer,) are residents of Blacksburg.

They are all business men and mean "business" in regard to the advancement and prosperity: of the Cornet Band.

The following are the names of those comprising the band:

First. Leader.........................Dr. W. B. Conway.

Second Leader.............................W. M. Dawson.

Alto........................................A J. Evans.

Tenor.....................................S. H. Pierce.

Baritone..................................C. U. Hawley.

Tubas.....................................W. H. Collup.

Snare Drum.................................G A. Bowman.

Bass Drum....................................R. Sheaff.

The members anticipate holding a Festival, the proceeds of which are to help defray their necessary expenses. We hope they may be crowned with success. ALBERT.
