"Pappy" K.—Morning after a calathump. "How do the boys contrive to render the night so hideous?"
MESS-HOUSE TECHNICALITIES.
At the Muncey—"John, will there be any hereafter?" John smiles blandly and makes no reply.
At the Major—"Artemas, can you expect boss today?" Artemas says, "Wait."
At the Franklin.—H. , is there any extra provender. H. brightens up and says, "You bet."
Hereafter, boss and extra provender are terms synonymous with "dessert," which we used to hear around the family table in days gone by.)
Question: Should Grant be allowed a third term? S. on the negative.
"No, Mr. President. Caesar had his Brutus; Charles I. his Cromwell, and Grant 'Treason! treason! Well, every dog has his day.' "
