Haw’s Improved Pecker Saw Mill
This mill is simple in construction, very durable, and is well adapted to plantation sawing. It will saw, with from four to six horse power, from 1,000 to 1,500 feet per day, if properly managed. The carriage is 24 feet long, and it will cut logs that will square 21 inches.
The teeth are inserted in an oblong plate, and can be renewed when worn out.
Price, $350.00, with extra pinions, screw-wrench, cant hooks, set-punch, and an extra set of teeth.

Virginia Agricultural and Mechanical College.
In the Fourth Session there were 255 Students. The next Session begins August 9th, 1877.
Expenses for State Students, of whom there are 132, vary through several grades from $15 per month, (the highest price ever paid), for furnished room and table board, to $7.00 per month in the messes, with room rent free. There is mess accommodation for 100 students. It is thus possible for State students to keep the year's expenses, including books and uniform, within $110, and facilities are afforded for earning a considerable part of this by work on the farm or in the shop. Pay students are charged $40 for tuition and college fees.
