We may justly be proud of our new library. The room is probably one of the neatest in the State, and between 1500 and 2,000 choice volumes are upon its shelves. Of course the variety and number is very small when compared to the leading libraries of the State, yet a need that has been felt ever since the College was established is partially met. Principally to be found are history, fiction and poetry, together with the leading works of such authors as Tyndall, Huxley, Sir William Hamilton, Emerson, and others. The influence of our library is manifesting itself rapidly; many students pass a large part of the evenings now reading something valuable and interesting, while heretofore much of this time was thrown away. Much credit is due our President and Rector of the Board, by whose energy and efficiency the library was obtained. It only remains for the Board of Visitors to increase it from time to time as fast as the funds will admit, and soon we will have a library that will vie with almost any in the State, and be of incalculable benefit to the College.
