Virginia Agricultural & Mechanical College
In the FOURTH SESSION there were 225 Students. The fifth session begins August 14th, 1876. The only vacation begins at Christmas and lasts till the 24th February, when the next halfsession begins. Expenses for State Students, of whom there are 132, vary through several grades from $15 per month (the highest price ever paid), for furnished room and table board to 6.50 per month in the [unintelligible], with room rent free. There is mess accommodation for 100 students. It is thus possible for State students to keep the year’s expenses, including books and uniform, within $110, and facilities are afforded for earning a considerable part of this work on the farm, or in the shop. Pay students are charged $40 for tuition and college fees. Catalogues sent on application. For appointments, apply to county Superintendent of Schools or to

Will enter upon its seventeenth annual session, on Monday, Fourth of October, 1876. Board, Fuel, and Tuition in all English Studies for five months $100 Tuition for five months in Latin $5.00; in French $10.00; in Music $25.00; Use of Piano $2.50; Diplomas $5.00; Certificates of Proficiency $3.00; Certificates of Distinction Free.
Each boarding pupil will be required to furnish one pair of blankets, one pair of pillow cases, one pair of sheets, her own lights and towls [sic] and to pay for her washing by the month. Washing can be obtained for from $1.00 to 2.00 per month, according to the quantity given out. There will be no extra charges of Levy kind above those already indicated, nor any incidental fee.
The daughters of Ministers of all denominations in the regular work, will receive tuition in English free of charge.
Fuel fees are payable in advance. Board and Tuition fees are payable one-half in advance, the other half at the close of the session. Apply to
